After a really hectic weekend of visiting, here's a back-to-reality call where I have school tomorrow, nearing assignment deadlines, presentations, and the worst of all.. Accounting 3 mid terms. I'm so doomed. Seriously.
Before I die (hahah), here's a throwback of my chinese new year break(:
Chinese New Year was kickstarted by a really yummy reunion dinner made homecooked by mummy on new year eve.
A mandatory chuyi ootd with my symmetry dress I got from Taiwan. Didn't really shop for clothes this year so I will have to make do.. I mean, I haven't worn it before so it's still new clothes.
Took like at least 20 photos of this but evidently, only one made it - my brother gotta brush up his photographing skills. Morning was a trip to the temple to make some offerings where I got blistered by falling jostick ash :( It was really hot, I guess god is trying to punish me for not studying hard enough... I will work hard (Inserts muscle emoji) !!
My first stop for my newly established angpao collecting business was Woodlands. Ate some yum yum abalone porridge and just plopped myself onto the floor and started to hog the television. Hahah so antisocial I know. My bro went to gamble with the kids (below 12 years old) and was like having a whole lot of fun but I just didn't have the feel to gamble so I decided to just hog the television.
Here's one with my really cheeky niece on chuer. She's such an angel yet so playful(:
And yes, I spent my entire chuer in like school based shirts and singlet...
Got to witness how the piglets are traditionally roasted!
So I walked over excitedly, armed with my camera and the guy told me "xiao mei, deng yi xia cai lai pai" Hahaha totally got rejected. But since he said go back later... I DID.
I guess it ain't really supposed to catch fire like this.... right?
Finally managed to get a photo with cai shen ye this year. Is it a sign? (:
That somewhat concluded my chinese new year.. I guess I missed out a lot of details... but spare me alright? Haha

I guess it was a really good excuse, in a way, for everyone to gather and catch up. Although it was honestly a little awkward which of course I understand it's kind of inevitable because we meet up only a few times throughout the entire year.. But I'm still happy to see everyone enjoying the food together(:

Happy Valentines' Day!
Valentines' day with the boy~
Had a simple valentines date with the boy that didn't start very well initially but glad the day ended fine!(: Both me and his mum were late in the morning so that led to a really grumpy boyfriend in the morning which was thankfully appeased by the tiny pooh key chain I crocheted throughout the night.. which is the reason why I was late.
Small guy there but a lot of effort kay, especially since I am not a pro in this crocheting thing YET. Haha I really like how the crocheted plushies look -- so delicate and filled with effort -- because the whole thing was just a string. Didn't buy any gifts for the boy because this boy suggested no gift exchange for valentines day with a lousy reason of vday being a marketing gimmick for shops and all. Honestly, I was a little disappointed and was going to just not give him anything at all but after thinking about it for a while, I thought that gifts didn't really have to be bought... It's the thought that counts and so I made him something instead(: Win-win situation: he gets a gift, I didn't buy it.
Morning was a drive to get some breakfast, after driving his mum to school. Being foodies, we ordered 2 plates of carrot cake from a hawker centre in Jurong. I can't really remember the name of the hawker, but their carrot cake is really good -- the pancake style white carrot cake. Irresistible so we had to go for double portions.
After filling our tummies, we headed to the fishery port to get some fresh and cheap salmon fillets -- planning ahead to fill our tummies for the noon. Drove back to his house to have some ice cream: 2 tubs of BnJ (: So sinful but it's valentines day alright!
Then we turned on our competitiveness and tried the new card game that Jeremy bought. AND I WON. The first 2 rounds *flips hair* Quite an accomplishment and hence the photo, because the boyfriend is so good at games, the previous time I won once out of maybe 20 matches?
Had a simple abalone maggie with honey wings for dinner YUMYUMMM and the boy drove me home(: Journey to the east, thanks dear.
More valentines day together!! Next year, next next year, and many more years down.

After having my crazy long mane since forever, I decided to chop it off. And here goes. Doesn't look too bad right?

Garlic Fried Rice with Prawn
Garlic Fried Rice with Prawn (:
xxx
I have been cooking some quite some time now and I guess I can confidently say that I am not that afraid to cook anymore. It got more enjoyable -- knowing that you can't really screw up your food unless you add too much seasoning. (In response to that uncertainty, I tend to add really little soysauce... once bitten twice shy, remember the chicken chop I tried to cook..)
Oh wells, this turned out pretty well too. My fried rice has sausage, cheese cocktail sausages, egg and cheese; as well as the big mega prawns. I LOVE PRAWNS. Actually, I planned to cook this yesterday.. but Giant didn't have any prawns yesterday, so postponed~~
The pantry now is on the same level as my room, which no doubt made things easier. As I am a really really forgetful person, always leaving out ingredients or utensils in the room, this is like one of the best things that can happen to me (: Since no one actually cooks in hall, the number of people that legit-ly cook in hall can probably be counted using my fingers and toes.. I mean, the canteen already serve relatively yummy food, unless one is dieting or really lazy to leave their room, I don't really see why somebody would actually cook.. I am both of the above reasons by the way, it was a tough journey losing weight. No joke.

New Beginning
If you haven't already known, I moved. Yes, I am finally allocated my own hall after two-thirds of the year sped past, and the best part is, I do have "hall points" (don't really know what it's called...). And I had 14 points, which was well legible to get allocated a hall within 2-3 weeks of the start of the school academic year.. last semester.
xxx
So here's what happened: I was too lazy to submit my hall application before the deadline, which resulted in me not being in the hall allocation wait list as I was a late applicant. The sole reason why I got a hall was because my friend didn't want to stay in hall 5 and they didn't let her transfer out to other halls -- so I took over her hall, literally.
It was a good stay at hall 5 nonetheless. People say that the hall is old and lousy and dirty etc etc. Well, to be fair, I do not deny that hall5 is dusty, but that is only because they are currently under construction so duh-h. Which construction is dust-free? Hall is old.. if you refer to the architectural design and stuff, I agree that it isn't the most modern building one can live in. Look at hall3 -- they even have lifts~
HOWEVER, the part of inconvenience due to awkward location should totally be busted because you can never imagine how convenient staying there was, ever. As I am an NBS student, most if not all classes are being conducted at South Spine (SS) area, the seminar rooms, the lecture theatres. Hall 5 is so strategically located, such that I am able to reach SS in 15 minutes walk. PLUS, since it is widely known that Canteen B doesn't serve the most appetizing food and Canteen 4 doesn't have food variety at all, the next nearest canteen from hall 5, is Canteen 1 and 2. With the additional perk of having the supermarket nearby~ Who said inconvenient?!
Next point to address is the old. Yes we do not have modern designs, but we have proper rooms too. Our toilets are newly renovated (I have no idea when but they are really new) and password locked. I honestly prefer password locked doors because you can just punch the password and answer nature's call or have a cooling shower. Imagine rushing all the way to the ladies, just to realise you left your key fob in the room. (Only applies to girls though because guys' toilets are just open 24/7). Also, the basic structure of the rooms are pretty interesting -- I mean, who gets to climb some mini stairs to get to your room? (Like some sort of chalet-ish feel actually)
OH OH and the hot water. Is 24/7. Bathe anytime you want, and you'll still be warm.
And for cheapo people like me who wants to save the clothes washing money, hall 5 used to have an abundance of free washing machines - just wash only. They changed most of them to paid ones already though.. So this point becomes less arguable.
People there are extremely friendly, especially the "cleaners" in the hall. I put them in inverted commas because they actually feel more like friends. The lady who does the cleaning for my level always wish me good morning, ask me if I have had my meal, complement my clothes, etc etc. So friendly really, makes me feel like I'm home and welcomed. The uncle was really amazing too, I still remember vividly how he cheered me on during finals and all the nice sweet gestures that all the people in hall did.
And last but not least, my fellow domestic idiot in hall, living in room 603. Really thankful to have her around all the time, be it walking back to hall in the wee hours of the day after some intense mugging, or some food playing by experimenting on our own meals, to drinking tea together, walking to school together, gossiping, pouring our hearts out and just being there for one another. It was a really tough decision to leave because of her (don't worry I am not lesbian, I have a boyfriend which I truly love) and all the other tiny friendships that I've built in this hall for about one and a half semesters staying here.
Thank you hall 5 for all the love and being so welcoming(:
And hello hall 6, be nice okay? I came in peace(:
